The word binaural describes how humans hear - ‘bi’ meaning two and ‘aural’ referring to your ears. What makes our upcoming stream uniquely different to the album release is that it has been remixed using immersive, or 'binaural' sound. Working largely with Persian, Urdu, and visual sources for elite musical culture in North India and the Deccan c.1570–1860, Katherine’s general research interests lie in South Asian music the history of Mughal India (1526–1858) Islam and Sufism empire and the paracolonial and the intersecting histories of the emotions, the senses, aesthetics, ethics, and the supernatural. Dr Schofield is a historian of music and listening in Mughal India and the paracolonial Indian Ocean. Dr Katherine Schofield (King's College London).His repertoire includes Farsi, Arabic, Punjabi, Urdu and Hindi verses from the works of famed poets and saints. Dhruv/Bilal has been performing professionally since 2001. Based in New Delhi, India, he directs or sings with a number of bands such as Rooh Sufi Ensemble, Humble Mystic, Da-Saz and VnA. Dhruv Sangari is a world-renowned Qawwali and classical vocalist, trained by the great Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan himself. She was featured in Coke Studio Pakistan Season 11 as one of the backing vocalists and was one of the lead female artists for Coke Studio Pakistan 2020. She trained in North Indian classical music with Rauf Saami, a qawalli exponent from the 'Qawall Bachon ka Gharana', the direct descendents of the disciples of Amir Khusraw. Wajiha Naqvi is a multidisciplinary artist ~ singer, composer and song-writer from Karachi, Pakistan. Wajiha Naqvi (singer/researcher/songwriter).He is currently writing a book, Journeys of Love: Kashmiris, Music and the Poetics of Migration. Dr Hodgson is an ethnomusicologist who works on music in Pakistan.
